2010 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Results

What a great event! The level of camaraderie, the wind, the hospitality, the food and the many, many rum and cokes made this a successful regatta.

Sailing on Predator: Juan Mauri, Rod Favela, Dave Bouschor, Jonathan McMillan, Maia Caffelli, Giacomo Mauri, Duane Coker and Robert Neal (a.k.a. Fish Fry) won the event with six bullets in six races. Second place went to Scot Maust and the crew of Thunderbolt and in third Steve Attard and crew sailing Viva Las Vegas.

This was the kind of regatta where you can't ask for anything better, except maybe for the last day to be ten degrees warmer. The PRO and his support group did an awesome job on day one when the conditions were light and shifty, sending us out for a third try and successfully getting two races in.

Due to a 35 degree windchill we had to stay at the dock on Sunday, but the extra time was well used as Juan and his team put together a Hobie 33 rig tune and sail trim seminar during breakfast.

Now the next job for the class and its members is to locate all Hobie 33's. Looking forward to a 20 boat fleet at Nationals in 2012.

ST PETE NOOD REGATTA - RESULTS

Juan Mauri and crew won St. Pete NOOD and the Hobie 33 Midwinters. Winds range from 16 gusting 18 knots on Saturday and 6 to 8 on Sunday giving competitors a wide range of conditions to perform. Even though the chill factor was in the upper 30's the fleet was able to keep the warm, friendly atmosphere that characterizes all Hobie 33 One Design Regattas.

Winning crew: Juan Mauri, Rod Favela, Dave Bouschor, Jonathan McMillan, Duane Coker and Rob Neal (a.k.a. Fish Fry)

Christian Schaumloffel - Mirage was second and Scott Maust - Thunderbolt was third.
